Predicted FIFA 18 First-team Player Ratings

It’s that time of year again when Arsenal supporters are ready to be incensed that Eden Hazard has yet again, inexplicably, pulled in a higher FIFA 18 player rating than Alexis Sanchez. Of course, if Alexis is at Manchester City, then who really cares.

Anyway, with FIFA 18 right around the corner, Pain in the Arsenal is set to do what we do every year – take our best, educated guesses as to what each Gunner will be rated come the next edition of the most esteemed sport’s game franchise in the world.

And it couldn’t really be any more exciting, what with Alexandre Lacazette now leading the front like. This Gunner attack, with or without Alexis, is going to be one of the best rated attacks in the game. That is, assuming that the EA Sports overlords don’t screw us out of what we deserve.

Anyway, in this article, we will cover each and every Arsenal first teamer. If they are listed on the club’s website, they will be here. Even guys like Carl Jenkinson and Lucas Perez who figure to be gone before the game comes out, perhaps even before I finish typing this sentence.

These aren’t our “what they should be ranked” ratings, these are the ratings that we think they will actually be come the release of the game. And so, without further ado, let’s get into those ratings, starting with a reserve goal keeper.

FIFA 18 Overhauls Referee Logic

If there’s anything that can get you to appreciate real-world soccer referees, even after they’ve seemingly screwed over your favorite team, it’d have to be dealing with their digital equivalents in FIFA 17. The good news is: with FIFA 18’s update to their underlying logic, players should hopefully go through fewer broken controllers as a result of, shall we say, highly questionable decisions and calls.

Per Kicker’s interview with EA Creative Director Matthew Prior, the problem seems to be rooted in the Frostbite engine used in FIFA 17. While their calls are technically “correct,” based on the data given, how they were visually represented could differ in significant ways, frustrating players when a seeming non-issue gets their team carded.

That does raise a question, though: will the AI update only apply to the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions of FIFA 18? The Frostbite game engine was implemented specifically for singleplayer campaign mode The Journey, and won’t be present for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Switch versions of the most recent title. Those three will be using a downgraded engine, utilizing only updated stats for players instead of the graphical and logical overhaul planned for newer-generation platforms.

If the referee logic problem is based on the Frostbite engine, it would make sense not to implement AI updates to the older-platform versions of the game. Though that does subsequently mean that any long-standing bugs with the older model will apply to their versions of FIFA 18 as well.

But regardless of the underlying program they’ll run on, FIFA 18’s various versions will all likely involve new circuits, and stats upgrades to current teams. There may, however, be a few missing ones, such as China’s Super League. In turn, that takes out a few modern stars and stats monsters that FIFA 17 players might have been relying on.

Chelsea And FIFA 18 Mercilessly Trolled After Blues Tweet The Journey’s Alex Hunter

Chelsea and FIFA 18 have found themselves the victims of some merciless Twitter trolling following a bizarre exchange on the social media platform.

Users chimed in when Chelsea responded to a tweet from Alex Hunter – the main character from FIFA 17’s story mode, The Journey.

The story is set to continue in 18, picking up directly from where it was left last year.

EA have promised more football stars to feature in this year’s game, with Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed so far.

And it appears EA have gone one step further by creating a mock Twitter account for Hunter.

With EA teasing that a move could be on the cards for the youngster, Chelsea decided to respond positively to a tweet of Hunter’s.

However, the mock Twitter account decided to reply with a cryptically: “Top club, amazing fans, tough decision ahead!”

EA Sports Add New Tackling Function That Will Vastly Improve Your Game

EA Sports have announced a new method of tackling will be included in the upcoming FIFA 18 release, and it will vastly improve how you approach defending in the game.

The new ‘hard tackle’ will be a halfway house between the traditional conservative standing tackle, and a full-blown sliding challenge.

Often a slide tackle will result in a player being unable to recover in time to get a second challenge in on an attacker, while a standing tackle is sometimes ineffective and the opponent can find ways to dance around the challenge.

So the latest addition will be music to the ears of those players who have struggled to time their defending well.

How will it work? Players will now be able to hold down the tackle button on their controller, and the player will perform the challenge.

The issue will all be about timing however – having played a preview of the latest game, we noticed that you have to be better at timing challenges to ensure the hard tackle is performed, and we found that you would have to start holding the button down by about half a second to ensure a challenge was made.

The benefits of the tackle is that you are now much more likely to win the physical battle, without having to recover from getting up off the ground, like you do when you perform a sliding challenge.

EA promises improvements in FIFA Ultimate Team

In a recent interview with Dream Team Gaming, EA SPORTS’ lead gameplay producer Sam Rivera has promised that steps have been taken to improve upon the shortcomings of FIFA 17.

One of the biggest issues was with FIFA Ultimate Team’s online connectivity that caused lagging during matches and games ended abruptly. Rivera said that there have been decisions made in the past about putting servers around the world.

“So, now what we are doing is that there is a group of people just specifically working on connectivity – and they are working very hard to try and provide the best experience.

“Obviously because of geographical reasons, it’s not easy but we are aware that some people are experiencing bad things – especially with competitive gaming.”

The EA producer also talked about the Nintendo Switch version revealing that there was a big team of people working on it and that the gameplay would be fun and different.

FIFA Ultimate Team began as an add-on feature in the FIFA 09 edition. The FUT enabled players to build their own dream team with use FIFA Coins and the feature has since undergone a range of substantial changes.

According to Rivera, the internet connection may not be the only thing contributing to lag during the game. The TV could also be affecting the gameplay.

Some of the ways to improve the gameplay while playing on TV are –

If playing on a TV, chances are it’s got a host of flashy picture processors switched on which can affect input delay. Most TVs have a ‘Gaming’ preset usually found in the ‘Picture’ section of the ‘Settings’ menu.

‘Game’ mode works by turning off a load of these processors such as ‘Motion Blur control’ and ‘Noise Reduction’ which can lower lag by upto 50%.

Turning off the ‘Eco mode’ and reducing the backlight can create a much more detailed imagery, enhancing the overall experience and also improving the contrast

Make sure that the console signal is progressive rather than interlaced. If it is interlaced then the console signal will have an “i” after it, 1080i. If it’s progressive, then a ‘p’ after it, ‘1080p’.

EA producer Andrei Lazaresco talked to Eurogamer about how FIFA 18 made use of Nintendo Switch Nvidia Maxwell-based Tegra X1 chip by using physical-based rendering. He spoke about how the Ultimate Team would feature on Nintendo for the first time to be played on the go – on a plane, on a bus or even from a hotspot.

FIFA 17 was a brilliant game in many ways but was far from perfect. With the game scheduled release coming close, FIFA 18 is already generating a lot of buzz and the revelation of an improved Ultimate Team will only make waiting for the game’s release more difficult.

FIFA 18 Ultimate Team to Improve Previous Connectivity Woes

FIFA final team should be your video game football skills and understanding of the real test. In most cases, it is proven to be a test of the Internet connection – not your opponent’s test. Disconnected, extensive lag, server problems – all of which would damage your version of the extreme football team’s fantasies about others.

However, according to EA SPORTS’s response to Dream Team, this will improve in FIFA 18. Game producer Sam Rivera promised that his crew provided adequate attention and seriousness to the connection problem.

As to why they put these efforts on the network: they are ambitious. FIFA’s events are increasingly related to the public image of the game, especially as the team takes over the high-level players and represents the team on the digital lawn. Players like Paris Saint-Germain and FC Schalke may also place their jersey on FIFA 17 players because they are the stars of the league, and is expected to continue through FIFA 18.

FIFA 18 will be released on September 29, 2017. It will come to each platform – PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. No version of the Frostbite engine will also come out of the Nintendo switch.
