We’re still months away from an official FIFA 17 release but already sports stars are leaking key info about the new game from EA Sports. In this case, it’s revealed a brand new team being added to the already bulging roster of 650 existing squads available in the game.
The unlikely source of this new info is Norwegian international midfielder Andrine Stolsmo Hegerberg. Well she’s a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Swedish Damallsvenskan side Kopparbergs/Goteborg FC. And she revealed all of this on Instagram when she shared a picture of herself being scanned by a hi-tech camera crew.
Effectively, Hegerberg’s post confirms that the 10th ranked women’s national team of Norway is coming to FIFA 17. We can say that with some confidence, not just because of the Norwegian flag in Hegerberg’s post, but also because the chances of FIFA suddenly including a wide selection of women’s league teams seems slim to none.
In all likelihood EA Sports are expanding on the pre-existing 12 ladies squads which were included last year, such as England, Germany and USA. This isn’t the first football star to share a image of themselves being scanned ahead of FIFA 17. Adrian of West Ham and Loic Remy of Chelsea have both shared pictures of themselves in recent months.
But forgetting about the Premier League stars for one moment, it’s certainly good to see EA Sports building on their commitment to support women’s teams with every new release.
