PvP Updates in the Next Patch of Wildstar

It is a long time since last update, and instead of reporting something WildStar directly goes to changes to apply in the next patch. It’s about PvP.

There are a new season and a new arena coming soon. The first portion is like a piece of announcement stating the coming of next season, but players will still have months to rush for the rewards of Season 2. While the new arena is entitled with “Enter the Cryo-Plex”, the artworks present me with a beautiful battlefield where I would fight with sight-seeing. Let’s view it together.

The southern tip of Olyssia’s coast is broken up by a complex series of towering rock formations known as the Shards. Dating from the earliest phases of the Nexus Project, the Shards are a byproduct of Eldan geological and primal earth experiments. Due to their extraordinary elevation, combined with the climate of the extreme southern region of Olyssia, the Shards are freezing on the warmest of days.

Prior to exploration of the Shards by the Dominion and Exiles, Protostar dispatched a large number of survey teams to investigate the area. Though little in the way of natural resources was discovered during these evaluations, Protostar did find the remains of an Eldan research station. After several weeks of profit analysis, the clones determined that the area was too dangerous. As a result, upper management decided to scrap the project to avoid further casualties.

In the time since Protostar’s retreat from the Shards, many other groups have come and gone. The artifacts in the research station have proven to be a powerful incentive for explorers and thieves, especially since they are a valuable source of Eldan data. As a result, more than one band of treasure-hunters has fought in the lofty heights that are now referred to as “the Cryo-Plex,” and even those with no interest in Eldan secrets go there to scrape their knuckles or settle a score.  Wildstar Gold Online

WildStar-Powerleveling Through Battlegrounds

Buy cheap wildstar gold  WildStar offers multiple ways to advance your level and work your way to the top, one of which is through PvP, with battlegrounds opening up at level 6. And while games differ on how effective battlegrounds are in terms of leveling up quickly, WildStar has really done things right, making PvP not only viable, but on par with PvE content, effectively fostering a system where you really do have a choice. Let’s take a look at what helps make it tick, and what to expect-especially from a low-level standpoint.

A great thing about PvP is that you gain experience from both kills themselves and from finishing the match. Along with this, you get credit for all kills-not just those that you helped out with. While there aren’t a lot of kills in a given match, they do grant a lot of experience. Some at level 13, for example, can grant 2% or more, with the average being around 1%.

An issue present in a lot of games is that if you level only through PvP, you end up being at a disadvantage gear-wise when compared to others that spend their time doing quests and farming items. With WildStar, there are PvP-specific vendors all over that sell everything from gear, to add-ons, and even consumables.

The downside of all of this is that PvP can get a little monotonous. The matches are pretty similar because of one big pitfall: killing players takes a long time. As a direct example of this, a fresh level 6 player can have the entire enemy team pounding on them (10v1) and still live through 30-60 seconds of this beating before finally dying. In smaller skirmishes, it’s not at all uncommon for a battle to last multiple minutes before anyone dies, leading to what sometimes feels like a battle of futility.

The final aspect here is that you end up trading leveling speed in return for a lack of lore. PvP is just what it is-players fighting amongst each other. Each of the zones within WildStar have their own stories, NPCs with various quests that each help add some more life to the game, and dungeons to enter. For players that are wanting to experience the game as they progress, seeing everything it has to offer, this is a bad route to take for a first character. On the other hand, it’s possible to level up through PvP quickly, then go back and do any content you missed out on, though this defeats the purpose of trying to level fast to begin with (since you would otherwise level while progressing through content regardless).

How WildStar Transformed From A Subscription MMO To Free-To-Play

Cheap wow gold online   When sci-fi MMO Wildstar launched as a hardcore, subscription-based massively-multiplayer-online roleplaying game in June of 2014, it had gamers and critics alike scratching their collective heads in confusion.

Here was an MMO launching in 2014 that not only hoped to reel in a sustainable subscriber base in an age of free-to-play online games, but was going to do so by emulating the complex, time-consuming MMOs of bygone years. Casual was in and hardcore was out, and WildStar-which certainly looked fun and had a great art style-was already antiquated at launch.

“Five years ago the landscape looked different,” WildStar Product Director Mike Donatelli tells me. That’s when Carbine began working on the current iteration of WildStar-the game had been in development in one form or another for much longer-and back then, at least from the developer’s perspective, the subscription model wasn’t in such dire straits.

The development team decided to build the game with a subscription model in mind, which makes sense given Carbine was founded by ex-Blizzard developers in 2005(and acquired by publisher NCSoft two years later).

Wildstar free-to-play release date revealed

Carbine Studios has announced WildStar will officially go free-to-play on September 29.

The business model conversion comes alongside the biggest update poised to hit the game yet, with new content, revamped loot and stats, and a heck of a lot of quality-of-life improvements.

The studio is also stressing a streamlined starting experience for those new to the game or put off the first time round, alongside a loyalty program for its veteran players.

A closed beta for the new business model is still ongoing, with a second phase starting imminently to make sure the economic aspects of the game are ready for the shift, alongside the already-tested gameplay modifications. Any current subscriber can access the beta now, otherwise intrigued players can register interest now.

You can learn more about Wildstar in our review where we said that the game is both “rewardingly, brutally hard,” but still varied enough that there’s something for everyone.   Buy cheap wildstar gold

‘WildStar’ Now Testing Free-To-Play Features In Closed Beta Test

With WildStar transferring to a free-to-play model later this year, it is time for the new features of the game to be tested. The upcoming free-to-play features are now being tested in the game’s closed beta. Players with an existing WildStar account that have signed up to participate are eligible to test the content; however, not all will be admitted.

Currently, only active subscribers to WildStar can test the upcoming free-to-play changes in the closed beta. Carbine Studios will later open up the beta to more players including those that have “little to no experience with WildStar” to reach a bigger, more diverse sampling of those interested in the game. Interested players need to check out the summary of features expected to be presented during the closed beta on the official forums for more information.

Players will be able to instantly level up within the closed beta to test a multitude of features. A special vendor will also be available that offers players AMPs and high-level weapons and armor. Existing WildStar characters can also be copied to the closed beta test for those willing to test things with their characters and their items.

When WildStar transitions into being a free-to-play game, anyone will be able to download and play without spending any money. An optional subscription will still be available that will be called Signature service. Players that play the game for free are considered Free members while those that subscribe will be known as Signature players.

WildStar is Getting a Class Stat System Overhaul

Carbine Studios, the makers of WildStar, have announced a new effort called Class Stat Refactoring for the game’s upcoming free-to-play transition.

In efforts to make player stats feel more rewarding and intuitive, the developer is improving the overall clarity and consistency of stats in the game to make sure they feel both balanced and fun.

As a result of their stat system overhaul, the game will see the implementation of a new and improved stats system that’s easier to pick up and understand for new players, while offering improved control and specialization options for veterans.

The game’s lead combat designer Stephen Engle goes into great detail about the player stat changes in a blog post.

When the free-to-play update goes live soon, there will be a total of six core stats, each of which serves a purpose to every class. Secondary stats will also be available for experienced players to figure out, allowing for more customization and control over individual playstyles than players have seen before. -Cheap Wildstar Gold Online

WildStar developer details massive Free-to-Play update

Last month, the Sci-Fi MMO, WildStar announced that it was converting to a free-to-play business model. With most MMO’s being free to play these days, it’s not hard to see why, even though the game is little more than a year old. This new business model is a part of a new multi-step direction with a focus on “quality of life”, to make the game more appealing to potential new players.

Apart from removing subscription fees, WildStar will feature an overhauled Tutorial Mode, designed to be more customizable for the player. Players will be able to pick tutorials best suited to them, based upon prior knowledge from playing other MMO’s. Additionally, items and statistics are being completely reworked to be more intuitive, particularly in naming conventions. Improved customization is also a focus through a redesign of secondary statistics and gear.

Dungeons are also being reworked to provide a more consistent challenge and will be re-scaled to be “suitable for players in five level increments.” Two new areas were also teased, the narratively driven, Alpha Sanctum, that will bring players into the Nexus world story earlier in the game, and the PVP Arena, Cryo-Plex, a winter-focused, multi-layered battlefield.

NCSOFT and Carbine Studios haven’t forgotten about players who have already invested money in the game over the last year either. Anybody who has committed financially to the game in the past, can expect “a number of very cool rewards waiting for them.” No specifics on what exactly those rewards will be, but WildStar players can stay tuned for more details.

WildStar will officially transition to the Free-to-Play model this fall, though no concrete date has been given. The game scored a solid 82 overall rating on Metacritic, so if you have been hesitant to get into it for financial reasons, that barrier will soon be gone.

Is Wildstar ditching subscriptions and going free-to-play on Steam?

Elder Scrolls Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Lord of the Rings Online have all ditched subscriptions, and now it looks like Wildstar might do the same.

A listing on SteamDB (via PC Gamer) suggests the massively multiplayer online role-playing game is going free-to-play.

It’s listed as “Free on Demand”, which is how SteamDB advertises its free-to-play games.

According to a recent NCSOFT earnings call, the game only made a quarter of the revenue of the firm’s second lowest performer Lineage II between January and March.

WildStar is a multiplayer online game in the vein of World of Warcraft that takes place against the science fiction backdrop of the planet Nexus.

Currently, purchasing the game at retail or downloading it online unlocks 30 days of free game time, as well as three guest passes, which can be given to friends.

The game’s business model also gives players the opportunity to avoid subscriptions by purchasing play time using in-game gold.

Megaservers are coming to WildStar!

First off, we’d like to apologize that we’ve been so quiet about the state of our servers; we wanted to be certain that our new tech was in a solid enough state where we could speak confidently about some exciting new developments we want to share with all of you. We’re close to finalizing a goal we’ve always had for our servers, something that will bring long-term benefits for our players and their WildStar experience.

In the near future, we will be implementing Megaservers for WildStar.

Going the Megaserver route means that we vastly increase server capacity allowing for greater critical mass of our player base, resulting in more people, more groups, more activity and more raids… more of everything that makes WildStar so fun. The Megaservers and their increased player capacity will give fans more options to group up and enjoy WildStar with friends and other players for a long time to come.

Under the new MegaServers, there will be one PvP and one PvE realm per Data Center. We’ll also increase the number of available character slots for each Megaserver. There’s lots more information to come, with some questions already answered in our FAQ and more on the way.

When the time comes, all guilds, arena teams, circles, mail and auction items will transfer to the new Megaservers. The normal “realm transfer” restrictions will not apply during this transfer. Unfortunately, one of the byproducts of this is that realm rule sets will be going away, so we will replace them with five region-wide chat channels – Roleplay, French, German, French Roleplay and German Roleplay. More details on this will be revealed soon.

Although we’re far enough in the process to begin talking about it, we are still some ways away from the Megaservers going live. One of the things we’re doing to make the wait easier is that as of this post going live, we have put free realm transfers in the game for all players.

There’s still a lot of detail to be worked out and shared with you in the near future. We did want to let you all know where we’re headed with our new Megaservers, because we are fully aware that the game servers in their current state are a very important subject with you, our players. As always, the devs are listening, we’ve heard your feedback loud and clear and we’ll continue to listen as WildStar grows.

We’re happy to be able to share our future plans with you, and thank you as always for your patience and support.
